“Hip”: A Poem by Santi Tafarella

beneath the sour apple tree

you will knob my more

of tone and fin

we will bop

and lie in wraps

and yalp

and moan

your ribs i’ll

finger

like a harp

and you

will mime my trombone

  1. J Wetzel says:

Are you related to the Santi Tafarella who was a great trumpet and cornet player? He died in 1962.

  2. santitafarella says:

Yes I am. He was my grandfather. He died of a heart attack at the age of 70—and before I was born.
