How gross is this?
A candidate for vice-president, brand new to the national stage, will not be allowing herself to be subject to press questions?
How can you evaluate a person’s position on issues, and the quality of her mind, if she will not parry with serious reporters or interviewers?
If candidates don’t talk to the press, all you know of them comes from their ability to read audience fine-tuned, focus-group prepared, speeches from a teleprompter.
This is Orwellian.
My guess is, if she does get around to giving interviews, she’ll just make the right-wing talk radio rounds with Rush Limbaugh or Hugh Hewitt, not with journalists.
Marc Ambinder reports:
A senior McCain campaign official advises that, despite the gaggle of requests and pressure from the media, Gov. Sarah Palin won’t submit to a formal interview anytime soon. She may take some questions from local news entities in Alaska, but until she’s ready—and until she’s comfortable—which might not be for a long while—the media will have to wait. The campaign believes it can effectively deal with the media’s complaints, and their on-the-record response to all this will be: “Sarah Palin needs to spend time with the voters.”
Not out of the question are appearances on lighter, fluffier television shows. But—not for a while.
omg. this is so appalling i can’t even believe it. i’m sure it’s true, it’s too surreal not to be.
she and her party are so lame.
Maybe she’d agree to a combined interview /mooseburger bbq. Seems to be a good meet-halfway point.
