Via Teleprompter, “She’ll Talk Directly to the American People”: McCain Campaign Surrogate Mocks the Notion that Sarah Palin Needs to Make Herself Available for Interviews and Questions From The Press

The following video is so gross to watch, I simply don’t know what to say. The cynicism is bottomless:

When a national party can shield its candidates from interviews and press conferences, how is democracy to function properly?

How are people to make a rational judgment about a candidate who they only know via meticulously scripted venues?

Why not just roll a robot onto the stage?

I only hope that the electorate this year does not reward this kind of behavior.

Palin’s isolation from the press, and tight scripting, sets an outrageous precedent.

  1. Ed O'Neil says:

I think the critical question here is Why a national party is shielding its candidates from interviews and press conferences? The only plausible answer is to control damage. The press asks tough and important questions and whether or not it is their prime reason, they are bringing candidate positions to the general public. Ducking that interface is cowardly.
