Why They Hid Her: Sarah Palin Did Not Even Know that Africa is a Continent—and Not a Country!

Now that the election is over, the reason that the McCain campaign never allowed Sarah Palin to hold a press conference—or sit for interviews on the Sunday morning political shows—is coming out: She would likely have grossly embarrassed herself.

According to Carl Cameron (of Fox News, of all places) Sarah Palin did not even know that Africa is a continent (not a country):

CAMERON: There was great concern in the McCain campaign that Sarah Palin lacked a degree of knowledgeability necessary to be a running mate, a vice president, and a heartbeat away from the presidency.

We are told by folks that she didn’t know what countries were in NAFTA — the North American Free Trade Agreement. That’d be Canada, the U.S., and Mexico. We’re told that she didn’t understand that Africa was a continent, rather than a series — a country just in itself. A whole host of questions that caused serious problems about her knowledgeability.

Got to love people like this, some man no one knows says something about Sarah Palin so it must be true. I guess if that same man came on tv and said you suffer from incontinence, that would be true too. Did it ever occur to you that they might be slandering her because they are mad because they are so incompetent at their jobs that Obama won? This is why hearsay is not admissible in court darling.

i agree that the person leaking this story may be lying—but he or she also may not be.

here’s the problem: sarah palin opened herself up to these kinds of stories precisely because she shielded herself from press scrutiny (giving no press conferences, and not offering herself up for extended interviews on the sunday morning political shows).

in other words, the allegations seem probable based on what little we know about her—and the fact that she did not expose her thinking to extended skeptical scrutiny.

had she shown herself a person capable of thinking on her feet, and knowledgable about the issues, such a story could never gain traction.

i myself think that the leaker is telling the truth—and that this is just the tip of the iceburg.

sarah palin’s candidacy was a total farce.
