This today in the Connecticut Post:
Lieberman admits that it is a bit schizophrenic, but since election night, he said, he was both disappointed for his friend’s loss and thrilled with Obama’s victory.
“It is amazing to remember that in my lifetime people of color could not vote in large parts of this country. And, now we see an African-American elected to be our president because of his personal character, abilities and the hopes he elicited in American voters,” Lieberman said. “It’s quite thrilling and it makes me proud of our country.”
Obama seems to have forgiven Lieberman’s transgressions, or at least decided to move forward. He encouraged Senate Democrats to allow
Lieberman to remain in their caucus and keep his chairmanship of the Senate Homeland Security and Governmental Affairs Committee.
Obama has also extended an olive branch to McCain — holding a dinner in his honor Monday night.
