The “Yes We Can” Obama Viral Meme—in Iran?

Tomorrow, Iranians vote.

Is it just me, or do you get the impression that something “Obama-like” is going on here?:

I assume that the reactionary “old ruling guard” in Iran will not let the urban young people “win” (even if they persuade the rest of the country to vote with them). But this outbreak of the youthful human spirit in Iran (and against fundamentalist authoritarian rigidity) means something, don’t you think?

Something “Obama-like” did happen – twice – when Khatami was elected 8 and 12 years ago.
That’s why Obama’s election appeared to me “Khatami-like”:)
And it was during Khatami that we were honored by the Axis of Evil title 🙂

Fun video btw, just checked the channel: a so called conservative one pointing out how Moussavi supporters are desecrating the color of Islam.

Desecrating Islam? That’s interesting that religious conservatives would post that video as a source of horror for them. I did think that the female with the uncovered head, sitting out of the car window, was a hopeful sign of flickering feminist liberation in Iran.

But from what you’ve discovered, conservatives would post such an image as evidence of their opposition’s decadence. Very telling.

Do you suppose that the males dancing in the video in such close proximity to one another is also suggesting of homosexuality? Is the video trying to imply that the opposition is suffused with urban gay liberationists?

No, I wouldn’t think so. This isn’t associated with homosexuality. The frivolous side is enough to be condemnable for such a website, which it’s own people might do exactly the same things 🙂

    Thanks for the clarification.
