CIA Eight Years: The Plot Thickens

Dick Cheney appears to be at the center of an eight year cover-up from the Congress of a secret CIA program.

This today in the NY Times:

The Central Intelligence Agency withheld information about a secret counterterrorism program from Congress for eight years on direct orders from former Vice President Dick Cheney, the agency’s director, Leon E. Panetta, has told the Senate and House intelligence committees, two people with direct knowledge of the matter said Saturday.

The buzz around what, exactly, this program was, may have entailed the coordinated murder of people (probably of Cheney’s choosing, approval, or discretion) outside of the country. A pseudo-international mafia-style Godfather, Dick Cheney may have become. Whatever was going on, Leon Panetta, on learning of it, immediately put a stop to it and informed Congress. It’s good to have our country back from these awful Machiavells who held our democratic institutions in such enormous contempt.

When will it be time to go straight to jail? Cheney’s time is approaching fast. There is a related post at http://iamsoannoyed.com/?page_id=588

All of these revelations and still we are only hearing that AG Eric Holder is “leaning toward” appointing a prosecutor to look into the activities of the past Administration.

President Obama’s contradictory mindset in regard to adherence to the rule of law is troubling. He states that we are a nation where “no one is above the law” but that he wishes to “look to the future and not to the past”. I, for one, do not believe that we can productively move forward and progress as a society unless the law breakers are brought to account. If we truly are a nation where no one is above the law then there should be no excuse for looking into the criminal wrong-doing of the last eight years. Investigation of serious crimes to assure future adherence to the rule of law is not the same as criminalizing political differences.
