Am I understanding this Mars satellite Phobos-thing correctly? When the Russians sent a probe near Phobos in the late 1980s, they discovered, in a series of images, one taken after another, an apparent saucer-shaped object over Mars that was moving and casting a shadow upon the Martian surface?!
And is it correct that they also discovered a “line” casting a shadow from space onto the Martian surface? And they even also apparently caught a picture of this “line” in a photograph of Phobos and described it as an unidentified flying object?!
And then the probe stopped working?!
I feel like Mel Brooks in Spaceballs, looking down at his teleported body flipped around, and exclaiming, “Why didn’t anybody tell me my ass was so big!” How come nobody stopped me in my tracks, grabbed hold of my shoulders, looked me in the eyes and made me pay attention to this? Why isn’t Phobos freaking everybody out?
I know I’m slow in discovering this story, but is it too late too panic about its meaning? And now I learn from Buzz Aldrin that there’s a monolith on Phobos!
I need a Xanax!
