I Watched Nova’s Two Hour Evo Devo Documentary on PBS Tonight

Wow. It was really, really good, and it will be out on DVD in a couple of months (March 30th, 2010). Here’s the link to pre-order it from Amazon:

Two interesting things I learned: The weakening of the human jaw made way for a larger human brain, and the human thumb is very, very important to our evolution.

Did I watch a different show? The purported ‘documentary’ sucked. Kinda boring, dumbed down, despite the footed fish-funky-funny attempt. The light/dark mice piece was unbelievable tacky: no mention to the british light/dark moth-Biston betularia saga? In sum, no real contributions to enlightment or knowledge. And too much DNA twisting, to no end.

Darn. My DVR crapped out on me and I missed it 😦
