It’s a Twilight Zone episode that is philosophically interesting.
I think of Rod Serling’s “The Shelter” as a profound meditation on Nietzschean v. Christian ethics, Darwinian survival of the fittest, zero-sum games, and living in a world where the civic culture could be unravelled by a single act of nuclear terrorism. It also even has (in my viewing of it) a warning about the way that white tea-partier Arizonans are behaving toward their Mexican neighbors. Anyway, the episode is thought provoking and philosophically interesting. Here it is:
