His name is Abdullah Antepli, and he’s a Duke University chaplain. You can watch him discuss, with another American Muslim, the Quran burning uproar here. And here he is giving a prayer in the House of Representatives:
I don’t like expressions of religiosity in tax supported public buildings, but I nevertheless think that Abdullah Antepli is a representative of Islam’s evolving future. His Islam is in contact with the heart, reason, pluralism, and modernity. Abdullah Antepli is the direction Islam is evolving in, and we should do everything that we can to encourage that evolution.
