Lifting the Veil is an unusually well done compilation documentary. Though long, I ended up watching the whole thing at YouTube, and found it so compelling I’m posting it here. You might find yourself unable to stop watching it as well. I can’t recommend it more highly for connecting the dots of our current political and economic crisis.
As a person who loves President Obama, and hopes that he is reelected in 2012 over any of the Republicans on offer, I nevertheless have to admit that this documentary fairly exposes where he has failed (and why he has failed) and the mess that the country is in generally (and why the Tea Party is not the answer either).
The documentary starts with some academic contextualizing followed by a litany of progressive promises made by Barack Obama during the 2008 campaign. It then proceeds to show how the past several years have actually played out. The clips of a speech made by Chris Hedges standing in the snow in Washington (at the end of the film) are extraordinarily moving. They are a testament to genuine (as opposed to staged) progressive hopes.

Prometheus Unbound 
America has to grow up. We can no longer live with the childish fantasies of the liberal elite. Obama is in a position to realize this but Chris Hedges is not. Progressivism is going the way of dolls and other toys.
