All-American Muslim on TLC: Do These People Represent the Future of Islam?

This new reality series seems hopeful:

I’ve long thought, and still think, that American Muslims represent Islam’s future (which I take to be the religion’s gradual but definite liberalization and rapprochement with western Enlightenment modernism).

I’m betting that a century from now the characteristics associated with American Muslims will be the characteristics associated with Muslims generally.

At least, that’s my hope.

Here I am interviewing an imam in Palmdale, California. He gave me a surprising answer when I asked him what he thought of Thomas Jefferson:
