Randi is funny. He offers a million dollars for solid evidence of paranormal phenomena which he defines like this,
“paranormal” as “not scientifically explainable; supernatural.”
and clarifies,
“Within the Challenge, this means that at the time your application is submitted and approved, your claim will be considered paranormal for the duration. If, after testing, it is decided that your ability is either scientifically explainable or will be someday, you needn’t worry. If the JREF has agreed to test you, then your claim is paranormal.”
This means that ghosts are silly but if they are scientifically explained they are no longer silly. But if you applied when they were silly you’ll still get your money. Mind-reading devices are already in existence, that’s one of the things Randi used to laugh at. Now he’s laughing at levitation instead. I guess that’s how skeptics learn from experience.
