Gays Cannot Be Excluded From Juries Just Because They Are Gay

Gay and lesbian dignity and equality in the United States continues its historic progress. This is in The Wall Street Journal today:

The Constitution prohibits excluding someone from a jury based on sexual orientation, a federal appeals court ruled Tuesday, the latest in a string of decisions granting gays and lesbians more legal protections. […]

“Strikes exercised on the basis of sexual orientation continue [a] deplorable tradition of treating gays and lesbians as undeserving of participation in our most cherished rites and rituals,” wrote Judge Stephen Reinhardt for the unanimous panel in the ruling Tuesday.

  1. I had not thought about that… but I’m glad for the decision. How the hell could the exclude from jury duty based on sexual identity? Holy fuck batman, that boggles my mind.
